New Anti-Spyware Weapon Combats Spyware Epidemic

(ContentDesk) December 27, 2005 -- A new Custom Fix function built into a very powerful anti-spyware program called SpyNoMore is enabling programmers to protect against computer spyware infections. With new spyware programs popping up every day, the spyware epidemic has continued to outpace programmer's attempts to stay ahead of computer infections. With the release of this new (patent pending) anti-spyware weapon called Custom Fix, programmers are now staying ahead of inbound computer threats. Custom Fix is considered a breakthrough in the fight against spyware in that it enables live technical support personnel to remotely examine an infected computer then issue a fix to remove that specific infection. In addition to Custom Fix, SpyNoMore is loaded with features that enable it to remove any infection. Features include:"Active Protection blocks spyware before your computer becomes infected"Host Blocking blocks known spyware-spawning websites"Vaccination inoculates your system against inbound threats"A Huge detection database which covers over 90,000 known spyware products"Highly paid spyware programmers are showing up to work every day, generating new and more sophisticated spyware programs," said Stewart Sullivan, head of R & D, IllySoft LLC.

"Anti-spyware programs simply cannot keep up, mainly because anti-spyware vendors rely on catching existing spyware, analyzing them, then issuing a cure via live updates to end users. By the time the end users receive the cure, the existing spyware has been updated by the spyware makers, rendering the cure useless.""The Custom Fix feature allows users to upload a system report, to be reviewed by highly qualified technical personnel, who in turn issue back a fix to cure the problem. The fix removes the spyware program before it has a chance to mutate," Sullivan said. "Unlike blind database comparison (the technique used by traditional anti-spyware and anti-virus programs), technical support personnel are able to spot these random files and prepare a 'fix' to successfully remove them. The fix is then dispatched to the user to remove the spyware program before it has a chance to mutate."According to Sullivan, PC users recently saw a spike in Vundo (Virtumonde) Trojan infections.

Sullivan explains, "Vundo Trojan infects a computer and starts bombarding the user with pop-up advertisements, some of which blatantly inform the user that their PC is infected, then propose a rogue anti-spyware product to clean it up. Among the rogue products promoted by Vundo are: WinFixer2005, SpyAxe, SpyTrooper and WinAntiSpyware. Needless to say, Vundo and the proposed anti-spyware products are closely affiliated, if not of the same group." "We started receiving report after report with Virtumonde Vundo infection, and none were identical," Sullivan added. "Users were adding statements to their Custom Fix reports such as: 'I ran Norton Anti-virus, and it did nothing to remove this pest.' Custom Fix enabled the technical support team to remove each and every one of those infections and to create new smart rules to add to SpyNoMores database to enable it to detect Vundo." SpyNoMore yearly subscription covers up to 3 PCs -- to protect your desktop, laptop and a have a third license to give away (spouse, sibling, co-worker) -- and sells for $39.95. Scan The System For Spyware - Frequently

By frequently adding and removing software and hardware from the system may make the system more and more sluggish over time. The system may become slow to the point of being annoying. Yet when the system was new it ran perfectly. There are many answers to why this happens. The system may be infected with viruses that are filling up the resources by replicating themselves or there may be Spyware operating in the background.

These Spyware can wreck havoc with the system time by delaying the response of the processor to the programs that are running in front. One other possible reason could be that the registry has gotten full of obsolete entries and references that installing programs and hardware make in the registry. These entries are not removed when the programs or hardware are uninstalled. This has to be done manually or with any free Spyware removal tool made for the very purpose.

Spyware Kits a Continuing Threat to Internet Users

(ContentDesk) April 8, 2006 -- Many users of the Internet continue to fail to take basic precautions to protect themselves from Spyware and other malicious software. "This problem is not going away and so many people are not taking even basic steps to safeguard their computers" Recently, a Russian website was discovered that is selling the WebAttacker spyware development kit. The kit is available for approximately $15US and is being marketed on the merits of its ability to infect computers. The kit includes scripts, which are specialized sets of instructions that web browsers interpret. Frequently, scripts are used to attack computers.A popular ruse is to send out e-mails (e.g.

SPAM) on interesting topics that point users to illegitimate websites. The unsuspecting web surfer then finds that his/her personal computer is attacked by these scripts, which are also referred to as malicious software.A disconcerting aspect of this type of attack is the lower level of technical sophistication...
